Eberlestock X2 Pack

The X2 pack from Eberlestock has become my go to do it all pack for most of my hunts and prep.  The design of the pack allows for a lot of versatility to cover most of my needs in the field.  In preseason, I found this to be my preferred pack for putting out and managing trail cameras.  Each of its two wings fits three of my Moultrie trail cameras allowing for fast access without having to search for them.  The two stretchable pockets inside of each wing allows for you to keep smaller things ordered like sd cards.  The pack also has a zipper alongside the length of its stuff style main compartment allowing quick access to things lower in your pack.

The shining part of the Eberlestock X2 is that it is not complicated, you don’t have to mess with twelve buckles to get it cinched down, there’s literally five buckles on the pack body not including the hip and chest buckles.      The X2 gives you the ability to be creative and add most anything onto it with its MOLLE webbing on most parts of the pack should you want to add your own pouches or tools (seriously, pick a spot and there’s MOLLE!).  This pack can adapt and overcome all day while not being overly weighty (5.5 lbs).

This pack has worked well as a tree stand pack.  I’m able to put my sticks and treestand in the pack and keeps them separate so they aren’t clanking everywhere.  Once in the tree, I like having the ability to pull the top lid down lower giving me the ability to access the main compartment without having to flip the lid back like a lot of packs.  The side wings give the ability to access them quickly without loosening a lot of buckles.  Each one of its buckles are strong and fasten down well. The pack fits me well and I don’t get a lot of pack roll when I’m carrying load.  I also like the mesh back and distance between the user and the pack allowing for good ventilation on your back when rucking through the woods.

This is a pack I have used extensively since this spring and it has proven itself to be a solid choice and a workhorse.  I would consider this a day pack for me at least and it wouldn’t be my preferred meat hauler because I like having meat closer to my back.  I prefer Eberlestock’s Main Frame pack for meat hauling and hunts where I need more space for my gear but that’s a write up for another time.
