1) On a flat surface use two upright books and place against the zygomatic arches (cheek bones). Measure the distance between the books.
2) Remove the lower jaw & prop up the head so there is a straight line between the occipital bone (back of the skull) and the front teeth. Measure the distance between the books.
3) Add the two numbers together for the skull to the 16th".
