More great bear hunting action from The Backwoods Boys on their fourth, Bears in the Backwoods, DVD. There are 16 hunts from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Newfoundland with some up-close footage as they hunt from ground blinds and tree stands. They really mix it up with many different hunters using a variety of weapons. It is fun to see how a first-time bear hunter handles the excitement as he misses twice with his bow before finally making his last arrow count, and all on the same bear. A lot of bears are seen at the baits during the hunts, making it much easier to judge size when a big bear enters the area.
Hunts are from both spring and fall seasons and a lot of bear vocalization is heard and displayed. Interaction between sows and boars during the spring breeding season is also shown and discussed. Jerry Peterson of Woods Wise Game Calls and maker of the Bear Talker, explains how bears communicate through vocalizations and how to use these sounds to your advantage while hunting.
One common thread throughout this two hours of bear action is the excitement of all the hunters. It does not matter if they have bear hunted once, twice or for 20 years, they truly love the thrill of bear hunting. They take several great bears on these hunts and many not until the last day. If you want a chance at a truly big bruin you must be willing to pass on all other bears and know you could go home empty handed, which does happen.
This is the best Bears in the Backwoods production yet with great footage and loaded with information. It is fun and exciting to watch and really makes you want to be there, and not at home watching it. We give it a much deserved 4 paws.
