NH Bear Harvest Looks Lower Than In PastNew Hampshire Fish & Game Department , Bear Hunting Magazine
The New Hampshire Fish & Game Department released preliminary numbers on the state's bear hunting season that has now ended.
As of November 14th, hunters had taken 376 bears. Of those, 230 were males and 146 were females. Officials state that this is 32-percent below the five-year average hunt of 556 bears for this time period.
A state bear biologist did say that the number taken this year was actually more of an average number as the past few years had been abnormally high. This number will keep the state near their harvest objective of 500 bears per year.
