Maryland Season Ends with 65 Bears TakenMaryland DNR, Bear Hunting Magazine
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has closed the 2011 black bear hunting season. Hunters reported 65 kills as of nine o'clock Thursday night. The Maryland DNR had set a quota of 55 to 80 for the season. Official reports state that 59 bears were taken in Garrett County and six in Allegany County. The largest was a 376-pound boar.
