The last two public meetings, one of which was set for tonight in Naples, Florida to discuss a draft Florida black bear management plan, has been canceled. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which is proposing the management plan just made the decision and has not set a new meeting date.

The meeting was to have been the fourth the FWC has held around the state. A fifth meeting that had been scheduled for Perry, Florida next week was also postponed.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stated it will regroup and reschedule the meetings. Some of stated that the reason the last two meetings were cancelled were because of too much attention on the bear hunting aspect of it and not concentrating on the other areas of the plan, while others stated it was because a number of key Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission personnel could not attend the Naples meeting.
