Pennsylvania Makes Changes To 2010 Season

Pennsylvania Game Commission, Bear Hunting Magazine

The Pennsylvania Game Commission board of game commissioners voted this week against the majority of sportsmen in making sweeping changes for their black bear season, with a 6-2 split. This year, a statewide five-day archery season will be held, Monday-Friday, November 15-19, with the statewide firearms bear season opening Saturday, November 20 and continuing Monday- Tuesday, November 22-23.

Only in the Northeast Region has there been overwhelming support for this change, which eliminates concurrent deer/bear hunting during the first week of the firearms deer season. Throughout the rest of the state, sportsmen indicated they were against the season, including 75 percent of the 227 responding to a mail-in and online poll conducted by The Republican-Herald/News-Item.
