Take Action To Stop Calif. Lead Bullet Ban
Lead Bullet Ban And Gun Microstamping Major Concerns
California Outdoor Heritage Alliance, Bear Hunting Magazine09/14/2007
California sportsmen urgently need your help to defeat two bills currently on Governor Schwarzanegger's desk that would impact your hunting and shooting heritage.
1. AB 821 (Nava) would ban the use of lead ammunition while hunting big game and coyotes in the range of the California condor, which includes deer zones D7, D8, D9, D10, D11, D13 and a majority of A South. AB 821 would undermine the regulatory authority of the California Fish and Game Commission to manage our state's fish and wildlife species including the authority to regulate methods of take for game animals.
2. AB 1471 (Feuer) would, as of January 2010, require all semiautomatic handguns be designed and equipped with a mechanism that transfers microscopic characters that identify the make, model, and serial number of the pistol, onto each cartridge case upon discharge of the firearm. This bill would not help solve crimes, but would substantially increase the cost of handgun ammunition.
Both of these measures could be signed any day! Please immediately call or write the Governor and let him know that he must veto these measures. For sample letters, or if you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us at coha@outdoorheritage.org
