A 600-700lb grizzly bear (named #122), pulled one of at least eight elk carcasses from Bow River to feed on. The other carcasses were removed by park staff, to prevent other feeding activity. As a result, a popular part of the park has been closed off to allow the bear to continue in its natural habitat, and keep visitors safe from disrupting the bear's food source, creating aggression. In the recent years, this same grizzly has become known to the park staff and visitors. The bear was seen feeding on other animals, including a black bear and other elk, near popular trails, requiring closure of parts of the park.
