North Carolina to open new study on black bears

The NC Wildlife Commission will look into increasing urban/suburban bear sightings

There is discussion of opening new areas for hunting.

Next year, the NC Wildlife Commission will study black bear appearance in populated areas. The black bear population has continued to increase through good management techniques introduced in the 1980's. Despite recent debate to limit hunting, black bear population is increasing in many states and management requirements are increasing!
