Minnesota DNR Pulls Bear Researchers PermitMinnesota DNR, Bear Hunting Magazine
A renowned bear researcher, Lynn Rogers, who is best known for hand feeding and broadcasting the birth of bear cubs on the web is losing his Minnesota bear research permit.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) stated that they will not be renewing his permit to radio-collar wild bears or tape them in their dens.
Mr. Rogers has been licensed to do research on wild bears since 1999. He now has until the end of July to remove all collars from bears in the state.
DNR officials say wild bears under Rogers' supervision are getting too comfortable around humans and posing safety hazards. He still has a game farm permit for an education center where he has domesticated bears.
