A Nevada state senate committee has heavily amended the bill the would prohibit bear hunting. The bill, as written now, will not prohibit a bear hunt in the state.

The bill, Nevada SB 82, was rewritten Thursday to resolution form. That means it does not force any action, but advises wildlife officials to consider the concerns of bear hunt opponents.

The bill originally was to designate black bears as protected mammals and prohibit the Board of Wildlife Commissioners from authorizing the hunting of black bears in the state.
