Montana Discusses Grizzly Bear Population

Bear Hunting Magazine

This past weekend marked the Montana Wildlife Federation's 78th annual meeting. One of the items discussed was the rising number of grizzly bears and sightings in the state. It also included talk of the possibility of de-listing them from the endangered species list.

Grizzlies were placed on the endangered species list in 1975, but today there is estimated to be more than 1,000 living in the lower forty-eight states. Officials are trying to get people with different points of view so that information can be brought together for the public at large. This way they will have a better understanding of bears and bear management and work out solutions.
