Mississippi's Official Mammal Bill Dies

A bit of a fun News Flash today.
Across the United States, hundreds of bills do not survive a session in their state's legislatures.

In Mississippi this past week, was the deadline for committees to consider bills that would change general laws. Some died in committee including a bill that wanted to name the black bear the state mammal. (There is no bear hunting season in the state of Mississippi.) Not to make the black bears feel bad, the legislature also let a bill die that would have changed the state song.
