Pennsylvania Bear Seen Near Cranberry TwpPA Game Commission, Bear Hunting Magazine
A black bear gave residents in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania a surprise when it climbed a tree near some restaurants. Police were called to the scene and watched the estimated 200-pound bruin as it stayed in the tree for two hours.
The bear attracted quite a crowd as customers from local restaurants came to see it. A game commission officer that arrived stated it was uncommon for them to see a black bear wandering around this late into the season and assumed someone or something must have gotten the bear up out of hibernation.
The bear eventually left the tree and went behind a nearby Burger King where officials lost sight of it when it entered the woods. Local authorities have advised area residents to bring food inside during the night.
