Wyoming Proposes Hunting License Changes

Wyoming Game & Fish Department, Bear Hunting Magazine

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) is holding public information meetings with open comment periods on their proposed changes to license issuance.

In an effort to have paper license applications received by the WGFD earlier, the department is proposing to shorten big game and turkey license application periods for hunters submitting paper applications. This, they state, will allow the WGFD to have all paper applications entered, proofed and reconciled by the online application deadline. Having this taken care of should allow the department to conduct the limited quota drawings shortly after the online application deadline. The current application periods would remain the same for online applicants.

The WGFD is also proposing that in the event of federal or state administration action closing a trophy game (which includes black bears) hunting season, license holders of that species could request refunds.

All interested in finding out more or commenting on the changes are encouraged to attend the WGFD meeting this Wednesday, December 5 at 7pm. The meeting will be located at the Casper WGFD office.

Written comments will be accepted through January 2, 2013 at 5pm by mailing to: Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Regulations, 3030 Energy Lane, Casper, WY 82604, or through the WGFD website at wgfd.wyo.gov. All comments received will be presented to the WGFD Commission before their January 24-25, 2013 meeting in Cheyenne.
