California Bear Season Harvest Now At 1, 386

The 2012 season harvest total as of November 29, 2012 stands at 1,386.

With the end of hunting bears in California with hounds coming at the end of this year, the state may soon see an increase in bear nuisance calls. In 2011, an estimated 47% of bears harvested in the state were with the help of hounds.

News Flash From 11/15/2012:
The 2012 season harvest total as of November 15, 2012 stands at 1,165.

Pursuant to Section 365(e), Title 14, California Code of Regulations, the general bear hunting season will close on December 30, 2012, or when the DFG receives report of 1,700 bears taken, whichever occurs first.
