The California State Legislature has sent Gov. Jerry Brown the bill that would prohibit using dogs to hunt bears and bobcats in California. The Governor has 30 days following the end of Session (August 31st) to sign or veto the bill.

Sen. Doug La Malfa, a Republican from Willows, says opponents of hunting are trying to end "a tradition probably going back since the beginning of mankind."

The Senate agreed to Assembly amendments on a 22-13 vote this afternoon.
