A fire in the Tonto National Forest has grown to 2,700 acres and is starting to affect bear hunting activities in the area.

The hot weather and rough terrain continue to be a concern for firefighters battling the blaze. Fire officials said the fire is 15% contained as of Monday afternoon.

Forest Road 236 and 236-A are closed, which prohibits entry into the Mistake Peak area. The fire is progressing north in the direction of Bear Head Mountain.

Forest Road 71 is closed at the FR 609 and FR 236 junction. Forest Roads 486 and 416 are closed, as well as Forest Road 609 at the junction with FR 236 and FR 486.
