PA Man Okay After Car/Bear Accident

A Shenandoah man escaped injury after his vehicle struck a large black bear on Interstate 81, near mile marker 123, Butler Township, at 10:55 pm Friday.

Police stated that the man was driving a 2004 Subaru Forester north in the left lane when he tried avoiding the bear, but struck it with the front of the vehicle before stopping. The vehicle sustained moderate front end damage and was towed from the scene.

The Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer arrived on scene to remove the deceased bear.
