An Eagle River, Alaska man that was mauled by a grizzly bear over the weekend is still in critical condition as of Tuesday morning. His family stated that his injuries were more serious than previously thought.

The 50-year-old was mauled by a grizzly Sunday while hiking above Eagle River Road near his home with his beagle. He was on a private trail surrounded by thick brush when he startled the sow with three cubs. He sustained lacerations to his head, back and leg. He was able to make a tourniquet from his shirt to slow the bleeding on his leg and was able to walk about a half mile from where he was attacked to get closer to the road where he was able to get help.
