A Vermont black bear is dead after trying to cross the northbound lane of I-91 late Saturday night. Because it was dark out, drivers were unable to see the bear as it climbed over the guardrail and tried to run across the highway.

The incident caused five vehicles to crash, but luckily, none of the drivers were injured as they were all wearing seat belts. All of the vehicles sustained significant damage to the hoods, front bumpers and/or undercarriages.
