Washington Man Pleads Guilty To Baiting

In a follow up to a News Flash we brought to you in April, the Washington man who was charged with baiting bears illegally near his cabin plead guilty. The 52 year-old plead guilty to 14 counts of bear baiting. Most of his 180 days jail sentence is suspended, so he will likely only spend six days behind bars.

The man who owned a cabin deep in the woods where wildlife agents say he visited every two weeks with bait. Wildlife officers believe the man had been baiting bears in the area for years, and in doing so, creating a larger bear problem for people who live in the area. During that same time, officials were receiving a larger number than average of bear calls in the area.
