CT Man Arrested For Illegal Bear KillCT DEEP, Bear Hunting Magazine
Tuesday morning Environmental Conservation Police from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) responded to a home in Burlington to investigate the report of a possible shooting of a black bear. The residents heard two gunshots then saw a black bear come into their yard and lay down, Officers found a male black bear that had been shot and died.
The investigation lead to the arrest of a 42 year-old neighbor on charges of illegally killing a bear, a misdemeanor and criminal possession of a pistol, a Class D felony. The man allegedly shot the bear after it entered his garage and then went into his backyard. The bear and firearm were seized as evidence. The man was released and will appear in court on June 4th to answer to the charges.
