The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife released information yesterday that as of January 30th, 2,821 of southwestern Oregon’s 4,000 first-come first serve spring bear tags have been sold. Last year hunters harvested 488 bears statewide in the spring hunts.

These spring bear tags for the southwest Oregon hunt are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tags typically sell out before the February 10th deadline. The hunt runs from April 1 through May.

Anyone who buys one of these tags are not able to apply for a controlled tag in spring bear hunts elsewhere in Oregon. Also, those who receive a spring bear tag elsewhere in Oregon are banned from buying a tag for the southwest Oregon hunt.
