Black bear attacks car: This sounds like an April Fool’s joke — but, for Cathy and Thomas Gibson, of Neilltown, it was anything but when a black bear destroyed Cathy’s Toyota Camry on Sunday evening and early Monday morning.

According to Kelli Gotto, of Tionesta, the bear attacked the exterior her mother’s 2011 Toyota Camry between 8:20 and 8:30 p.m., Sunday; then returned Monday, between 2:30 and 3 a.m., and destroyed the vehicle’s interior.

Gotto said her parents’ dog was going crazy, and her dad went outside and saw the bear inside the car.

“The bear was honking the horn and flashing the lights on and off,” she said. “It ripped out the dashboard, caved in the roof and broke the back windshield. My dad saw it and said it was about 300 pounds.”

Gotto said she believes the vehicle is totaled as a result of the bear’s destruction.
